These moments pass so quickly, yet they are the most love and excitement filled of your entire wedding. A lot of brides and grooms rush through the congratulations to get to the formal family photographs, I think these candid images are just as important and create such warmth when you look back over them. Make sure you set aside at least 10 to 15 minutes for congratulations, your day flies past so swiftly that you don’t get much time with each guest, some you haven’t seen in a long time. Savoir these moments and know that they are so treasured by your family and friends too.
The reason this is my favourite part of the day is, your guests don’t always love being photographed. Sometimes they fake a smile or hide from the camera. This period of time is where everyone is coming up to you and buzzing around, talking about how beautiful your ceremony was and how stunning you look. They are also so enveloped in the moment they don’t notice me shooting away, I often stand back with my long lens on and let everything unfold.
It’s kind of like a reading people game, knowing when someone is going to burst into tears as they wrap their arms around you, a child that is running around and laughing or maybe is a quiet moment between your parents as they look at each other with pride. Well I watch for these and wait for them and as they happen I capture them.
I love this time! Enjoy being in the moment as much as I enjoy photographing it.
